How Thodupuzha Is Planning To Became A Regional Startup Hub!

The growth of Thodupuza's startup ecosystem has been led by its wide tech talent pool, supported by engineering collages, technical training centers, Municipalities innovation-friendly policies, and other regional factors.

 

Thodupuzha, a satellite city is about 60 kilometers from Kerala’s financial capital Kochi, has picked up a few marks over the years – ‘Venice of Idukki’, ‘Idukki’s cultural and Education capital’, ‘City with most growth predicted in the upcoming years’, and more. 

Sometime in 2018, when Kerala was on the brink of a startup revolution, a journalist traveling to the city found it “fresh, most talented and potential in its energy”.

And, the city is trying to live up to the exaggeration. 

In 2020 a report titled “Rise of the Kerala Startups” described Thodupuzha as a potential startup hub in the next phase of economic growth for the region, especially for Idukki.

The hottest sectors for startups can include IT tech, agritech, healthtech, automotive technology, deep tech, software, and analytics.

 

Much of Thodupuza’s growth as a startup hub is not utilized, without providing a physical support by Startup Missions and incubators from the state. Many of our initiatives are moved to metropolitan cities like Bangalore, Chennai, and Kochi, even though there are enough potential talents in the local market.

 

Covid-19 created a buzz in the market, by providing multiple opportunities for startups in cities like Thodupuzha and we learn that business can be initiated and managed by any cities with a proper infra-structure.  Kerala government’s innovation-friendly policies and initiatives can support new initiatives to get the right support from the government entities. Add to that the city’s thriving IT and other industries, access to high-quality education, inexpensive real estate, wide availability of tech talent, and a favorable climate and pure air contributes to a leading-edge for Thodupuzhas growth as a startup hub. 

There are a good number of known and proven entrepreneurs in Thodupuzha and they are playing a significant role in the development of Thodupuzha’s startup ecosystem along with professional mentors, angel investors, and government servants.
